Regular kids Carmen (Alexa PenaVega) and Juni (Daryl Sabara) get the shock of their young lives when they discover their “boring” parents are ex-spies and have been abducted by evil mastermind Floop (Alan Cumming). Armed with high-tech gadgets, these siblings embark on a mission to save their parents and possibly the world. Spy Kids is an action comedy written and directed by Robert Rodriguez that launched a franchise consisting of five films and an animated television series. Inspired to make a film that felt like it was produced by a kid, Rodriguez drew upon his own childhood to make this fantastic tale of kids’ empowerment and the importance of family.
