The Company We Keep (InToto Creative Arts)

Join us at the Central Library for two engaging art exhibitions: "The Company We Keep" and "Embodied: Contemporary Takes on the Dress." "The Company We Keep," hosted in the Art Gallery on the East 1st Floor, features artwork from participants in InToto Creative Arts' community-focused program. This ongoing exhibition showcases a collaborative textile collage and other media that illustrate how identities are shaped by relationships and shared experiences within the Birmingham community. InToto Creative Arts, a Birmingham-based nonprofit, emphasizes artistic expression and connection for those affected by social and economic hardships. Meanwhile, on the East 4th Floor, "Embodied: Contemporary Takes on the Dress" presents a one-time showcase of 12 unique dresses created by Alabama artists. Each dress serves as a visual narrative reflecting personal stories and commentary on themes of culture, environment, and society.
