Restoring Our Waterways

Join us for this talk about the power and potential of our local waterways! This presentation is led by Rachel Allai, Our waterways are one of our most vulnerable spaces as our climate destabilizes; they also hold some of the most connected habitat within our urban environment. Restoring these areas back to native riparian zones has the capacity to strengthen them as both effective waterways and wildlife corridors. The Burroughs Creek connects the Barker, East Lawrence and Brook Creek neighborhoods. By involving and activating the community around the creek, our hope is that by restoring the health of the creek, we can simultaneously strengthen our relationships with each other, the wildlife that share our spaces, and the plants that live alongside us.  My work as an artist and musician is to bring these elements to our community gatherings and volunteer work days by offering different ways to approach, support and celebrate this work.
