Plants in the Park

We are excited to share this partnership with forestry educator Cathryn Pugh from Penn State Extension! Monthly plant walks will be offered at various parks across six counties from March through November. These engaging walks are free, teach the basics of plant identification, and provide an opportunity to earn credits. All walks will cover up to 0.5 miles on a gentle path, with restrooms nearby. Kings Gap Environmental Education Center is hosting two plant walks on September 10 at 1 PM and 4 PM. If you are interested in registering for a walk, open the link and choose Cumberland County. Under the “Where and When” section, select one of the first two time options in Carlisle on September 10, 2026. To confirm you have selected the correct event, scroll down to “Event Details,” which will indicate that we are meeting at Kings Gap Hollow Day Use Area.
