Join us for this cultural food workshop with Melissa Garrett, founder of The Hive: The Indigenous Collective and Wadulisi's LLC. We'll learn and eat together, with Melissa as our guide.The program will focus on Indigenous foodways through the lens of the Three Sisters (corn, beans, and squash), while also connecting these teachings to contemporary topics such as food sovereignty, climate resilience, soil health, pollinator support, and community-based land stewardship. We'll get a chance to taste the Three Sisters Soup Melissa Garrett has prepared as we explore: • Indigenous foodways and traditional ecological knowledge• The cultural and agricultural significance of the Three Sisters planting system• Discussion of climate impacts, food access, and opportunities for community-led restoration effortsMelissa Garrett will demonstrate part of the cooking process for participants, and there will be time to ask questions as well.100% of library events are paid for by the LPL Friend
