Pop-Up Event: Lawrence City Band 2026 Season Finale

The Lawrence City Band traces its roots back to our city's 1854 founding.  The Savage family and other pioneers brought their instruments (as well as their vote!) from New England to Kansas Territory and formed one of the first bands in the region.  In the years that followed, Buch's Military Band, Bell's Military Band, the Lawrence Municipal Band, and many others, entertained the town. In 1968 the current iteration of the Lawrence City Band was organized by KU faculty and local musicians, and maintains its celebrated eight-week summer concert series to this day. Let's catch their final performance, "Across the Pond and Back Again," at 8:00 PM on Wednesday July 15.  The concert is free and open to all.  Bring a blanket or a lawn chair and enjoy an hour-long piece of Lawrence History and sweet Americana.  (You might even want to wander over to Silas and Maddy's after the concert to end the evening on a perfect note!)  No registration needed.
