December 1776

Leading up to the Battle of Trenton, thousands of Hessian troops occupied Northern Burlington County. After several small engagements including the Battle of Petticoat Bridge, the Hessians took Mount Holly and the road to Philadelphia in a big battle that pitted two thousand Hessians against six hundred Americans.
